Volleyball Sub-State Matchups with Times

Tickets to volleyball state tournaments will be punched all over the state in all classifications this Saturday. Here is a look at some of the matchups featuring our local teams with the times and dates now set.

In Class 4A, Atchison is in the East Region, but they have to travel to Independence where they will be the 15-seed. They will play in the play-in match versus the 18-seed El Dorado at 1:00 p.m. for the right to play the 2-seed Independence in the opening round. That match will be 20 minutes after the first match concludes.

Holton will be the 9-seed in the Rock Creek sub-state tournament with an opening match against 8-seed Parsons. That will be the third match of the tournament with the winner facing either 1-seed Rock Creek or the winner of the play-in match (Wamego/Coffeyville).

The 3A Marysville sub-state will be a star-studded event with some of the best teams in the state competing. Nemaha Central will try to navigate the tournament as the 2-seed with their opening match being on the south court at 1:00 p.m. against Phillipsburg.

In the St. Mary’s sub-state tournament, 8-seed ACCHS plays 1-seed Rossville on the west court at 2:00 p.m. Simultaneously, 7-seed Sabetha plays 2-seed Silver Lake on the east court. 20 minutes after those matches conclude, 5-seed Jefferson West plays 4-seed St. Mary’s on the west court and 3-seed Hiawatha plays 6-seed Royal Valley on the east court. We will be broadcasting our area teams on the Hiawatha and Sabetha Channels.

In Class 2A at Wabaunsee, 8-seed Jackson Heights plays 1-seed Cair Paravel on Court A at 2:00 p.m. 2-seed Valley Heights plays 7-seed Horton also at 2:00 p.m. on Court B. After that match ends, 6-seed Valley Falls plays 3-seed Lyndon.

Jefferson County North will hope to get back to the state tournament in their home sub-state tournament. They are the top seed and play 8-seed Oskaloosa at 2:00 p.m. on the south court. At the same time, 7-seed Riverside will play Maranatha on the north court. After those matches end, 4-seed Maur Hill-Mount Academy plays 5-seed Kansas City Christian on the south court and 3-seed Pleasant Ridge plays 6-seed McLouth on the north court. We will be broadcasting the tournament on KAIR 93.7 FM after the conclusion of the Benedictine College football game.

In Class 1A-DI at Burlingame High School, 5-seed Troy begins the day with the host 4-seed Burlingame at 2:00 p.m. After that one concludes at approximately 3:00 p.m., 3-seed Doniphan West plays 6-seed Northern Heights. Top-seeded Centralia gets a bye and will play the winner of the 4/5 match at approximately 4:00 p.m. in the first semifinal and the third match of the day. In match number four, 2-seed Bishop Seabury will take on the winner of the 3/6 match at approximately 5:00 p.m. We will broadcast all matches with Centralia, Doniphan West and Troy on 92.1 FM KMZA.

In the Wakefield sub-state tournament, 4-seed Washington County plays 5-seed Rural Vista at 1:00 p.m. 20 minutes after that match concludes, 2-seed Clifton-Clyde takes on 7-seed Wakefield. After that one, 6-seed Onaga plays 3-seed Solomon. Top-seeded Frankfort gets a bye and plays in the first semifinal in match number four and will face the winner of the 4/5 match.

In Class 1A-DII, Axtell will be hosting a sub-state tournament. The first match will be at 1:00 p.m. between 5-seed Blue Valley-Randolph and 4-seed Pike Valley. After that one ends, 3-seed Axtell will 6-seed Glasco-Miltonvale. Following that match, the winner of the 4/5 match will play 1-seed Hanover at approximately 3:00 p.m. The second semifinal will follow between 2-seed Linn and the winner of the 3/6 match.
