Regional Cross County Results

Regional Cross Country meets were held on Saturday, Oct. 21st across the state. Listed below are the results from area meets. Three teams will qualify per regional plus the top-10 runners, and the possibility of additional qualifiers. 

Class 4A at Shawnee Mission Northwest: The Holton girls finished in fourth place but qualified two for the state meet with Eva Cortes (3rd place) and Maya Doney (8th place). The Holton boys finished in eighth place and failed to qualify an individual for the state meet. Atchison had three total runners competing with their best finish from Zachary Tschauder in 28th place. 

Class 3A at Sabetha: The Hiawatha girls posted the best team finish in fifth place followed by Nemaha Central, ACCHS, Sabetha, Royal Valley and Marysville. Notable top-10 finishes and state qualifiers were Nemaha Central's Madilyn Mosteller (3rd place), Hiawatha's Pauly Rockey (4th place), and Nemaha Central's Hailey Nordhus (10th place). 

The Marysville boys won the regional title with Nemaha Central finishing in second place behind the Bulldogs. Nemaha Central's John Langill won the individual title followed by Silas Miller of Marysville in second place and Jordan Hodge of Hiawatha in third place. Other notables in the top-10 and state qualifiers included Dominick Schnider of Royal Valley (6th place), Kalvin Evans of Sabetha (7th place), and Charlie Lukert of Sabetha (9th place). 

Class 2A at Council Grove: The Oskaloosa girls won the team title finishing ahead of Hillsboro and Valley Falls. Oskaloosa's Katelyn Vogel finished in second place while Emma Vogel finished in fifth place. Other notable top-10 finishes and state qualifiers were Brooklyn Schmelzle of Valley Falls (6th place), Taylor Peterson of Oskaloosa (9th place), and Bailey Jenkins of Jefferson County North (10th place). 

The Jefferson County North boys finished in second place behind regional champs Chase County with Pleasant Ridge finishing in third place. Lucas Meredith and Isaac Kane finished in second and third place respectively. Other top-10 finishes and state qualifiers included Nate Linck of Jackson Heights (8th place), Cooper Wischropp of Horton (9th place), and Federico Boccolari of Oskaloosa (10th place). 

Class 1A at Sabetha: The Centralia girls posted a third place finish behind Osborne and Northern Heights. Meleah Talley led the Panthers by finishing in eighth place. There were top-10 finishes as well from Laela Idol of Doniphan West (9th place) and Gracie Grable of Troy (10th place). 

The Axtell boys posted a second place finish behind the regional champs in Beloit-St. Johns Tipton and ahead of third place Northern Heights. Axtell's Grady Buessing finished in second place and his teammate Gavin Shaughnessy finished in sixth place. Kris Fulkerson of Centralia posted a top-10 finished and qualified for state in ninth place.
