K-Preps have released their latest football rankings ahead of the first round of the playoffs with games on both Thursday and Friday night this week. 

Axtell remains #1 in 8M-II as they extended their state best winning streak to 34 after defeating Doniphan West last week to close out the regular season. The Eagles are looking for their third straight state title and the run will start with a first round matchup against Wakefield. 

Nemaha Central remains the top ranked team in Class 2A after they extended their winning streak to 21 games, closing out the regular season with a 28-0 win at Sabetha. It secured both the Big 7 and District titles. 

Sabetha dropped from #2 to #4 after taking their lone loss of the season against the Thunder. Both teams will open their 2A playoff runs on Thursday night as the Thunder will host Pleasant Ridge and the Bluejays will host ACCHS. 

For the first time this season, the Atchison Phoenix have made an appearance at #5 in Class 4A. Atchison finished the regular season undefeated with another Meadowlark Conference title after beating Wyandotte 66-7 in the regular season finale. They earned the #1-seed in 4A East and will begin their playoff run on Friday at home against Bonner Springs.
