Introduction

Big night for Cobra Varsity Sports coming up with landslide victories; The Cobra Boys winning 52-30, and the Cobra Girls winning 55-15 over McLouth. McLouth came into the night looking to get right on both the boys' and girls' sides. The Lady Bulldogs were 0-6 coming into the night and the Mclouth boys came in 2-4. McLouth so far this year has only played against NEKL opponents and that continued tonight, however not in the way they wanted.

Girls - Jackson Heights vs McLouth (55-15)

The Lady Cobras started the game off with three straight three-point shots and six total in the first quarter, four came alone from Taylor Bosley in the first quarter. Continuing about Bosley, a huge night for the Junior going 5/5 around the arch, primarily favoring the home side court’s top wing. The McLouth Bulldogs struggled with breaking the Cobra Press and overall stopping the Cobra offense. McLouth played the third and fourth quarter with only four players, in which they came into the night with only five. Jackson Heights was able to start playing their JV by the near end of just the first quarter with the score of 22-5. The sole bright spot of the game for McLouth was Calleigh McColley who had ten points for the Bulldogs.

Boys - Jackson Heights vs McLouth (52-20)

I’m not quite sure if the Cobra boys decided to steal the Cobra girl’s recipe, but it was the same one for the start of the boys' game, three straight three-pointers! The scoring started with Jace Robinson nailing a three, then Mcqueen banked one right after, following up Mellies sank one, and before the end of the quarter, Jaden Gueye pulled the trigger and struck a three as well, putting the cobras at the end of the first quarter up 16-0. The Cobras controlled all of the game from the 31-10 halftime to the 52-20 end score. The star of the night went to Brayden Mcqueen who was able to rack thirteen points with three three-pointers. Sean Hayden also had a notable game for the Cobras underneath the basket with six points and many rebounds. The Bulldogs overall struggled with rebounds, shooting, and press breaking, their highlight of the night coming from a buzzer-beating three-point shot before half by Judd Holwick. The Bulldogs will look to get right once more versus Maur Hill next week.

Conclusion

Regardless of the outcome, McLouth was still able to show up and show some shines of flashes going forward for the season. As for Jackson Heights, the girls will improve to a two-game winning streak and the boys will snap their two-game losing streak. It seems that the Lady Cobras are finally getting their groove and the Cobra Boys will remain third in NEKL play. For both teams' next matchups; Jackson Heights will play Oski at home on Tuesday while McLouth will take on one more away game at Maur Hill before their invitational at home.
