Sabetha & Jefferson West Baseball Advance to Regional Semifinals

The Sabetha Bluejays and Jefferson West Tigers baseball teams picked up wins Thursday afternoon to advance in the Regional Tournament. 

Jefferson West is hosting one of the eight 3A Regional Tournaments in Ozawkie with the Bluejays winning their first round game over Hiawatha 11-1 and the Tigers defeating ACCHS 11-4. 

The Bluejays wasted no time ending the game in five innings scoring three in the first, five in the second, and three more in the fourth. 

Aiden Lang was the story offensively for Sabetha hitting a grand slam over the fence in left center field in the second and adding another RBI with a sac-fly. Chase Frey added an RBI double while Reid Mitchell and Jacob Grimm contributed with RBI's. 

The Redhawks finished the game with only three hits and got their lone run in the fifth inning with an RBI single from Payton Teel. The Redhawks finish their 2024 season with a record of 4-15. 

Jeff West in the second game scored two runs in the first inning with RBI's from Brodie Thelen and Brady Skahan. 

ACCHS would score four in the third inning on RBI singles from Kain Koontz, Rance Vessar, Max Bottorff, and Adler Koontz but were only able to muster one hit the rest of the game as they finish their season with a record of 6-12. 

Jefferson West retook the lead in the home third inning with three runs and would put the game away with five runs in the fourth inning. Brody Boyer and Collin Crowson each had two-RBI doubles with the team finishing the game with 10 total hits. 

Jefferson West (16-6) and Sabetha (17-5) will face off in a Regional Semifinal game in Ozawkie Tuesday afternoon which will be after the first game between Bishop Ward and Perry-Lecompton.
