Nemaha Central Sweeps Big 7 League Track & Field Meet

The Nemaha Central track and field teams swept the Big 7 league titles on Thursday afternoon in Sabetha. 

The Thunder girls finished with 183 points while Holton finished in second place with 171 points. Royal Valley (78), Hiawatha (54), Perry-Lecompton (50), Sabetha (35), Jefferson West (23), and Riverside (9) round out the team scores. 

The NC girls won nine events including Hailey Nordhus winning the 400 and 800 while Cali Honeyman won both the 100 and 300m hurdle events. The Thunder would also win both the 4x400 and 4x800m relays. 

Holton would win four events with Mara Marten winning the high jump, Piper Robinson winning the pole vault, Lauren Shupe winning the long jump, and Eva Cortes winning the 3200m run. 

The Nemaha Central boys finished the day with 131.5 points while Sabetha would take second place with 104 points. 

Hiawatha (96), Royal Valley (96), Holton (95), Perry-Lecompton (45.5), Jefferson West (33), and Riverside (5) rounded out the team scores. 

The NC boys won four events with John Langill in the 3200m run, Holden Bass in the discus, Caleb Strathman in the high jump, and Carter Rottinghaus in the long jump. 

Sabetha's Joshua Grimm won the shot put while Will Voos won the triple jump. They would also take first place in the 4x800m relay which included Charlie Lukert, Josh Enneking, Tyse Frazee, and Brody Deters.
