The Valley Falls boys basketball team opened their regular season on Friday night at home defeating Jefferson West 76-60.
The first half was back and forth with multiple lead changes. The Dragons led the game 20-16 after the first quarter and then the Tigers would have multiple leads in the second quarter.
Valley Falls finished the first half on a nice run and Damian Cervantez would hit a buzzer beater three-pointer to end the half with the Dragons leading 37-28.
Jefferson West would not lead at any point in the second half as the Dragons were able to keep up the numbers on offense.
Cervantez led the Dragons finishing with 24 points and eight rebounds. Flint Seymour added 15 points and 10 rebounds. Hayden Kearney and Trenten VanHoutan each finished with 14 points and Collin Kearney added eight points and 13 rebounds.
Jefferson West newcomer Daniel Brown finished with a game-high 25 points while Kyle Herrman added 15 points and five rebounds.
The Dragons outrebounded the Tigers 42-28 and shot 25 more free throws in the game. Valley Falls finished 18-of-34 from the free throw line while Jefferson West finished just 5-of-9 from the line.
