B&B Lady Falcons Fall in State Tourney to End Season
By Mike Smith

Lady Falcons of B&B soared into the state tournament behind great performances in both sub-state games but found themselves as the five seed with their 20-3 record on the season and facing a fourth seeded 20-2 Wilson Dragons squad in the first round. The Falcons put up a fight but ultimately saw their season come to a close with a loss to Wilson 53-42.

Both teams started the game somewhat tentative as it was tied 9-9 after the first quarter, then Wilson would push out to a 16-13 lead at the half. Falcons wouldn't be stifled as they responded to start the second half with a 20-13 third period to take the 33-29 lead into the fourth and final frame. B&B lead half of the fourth then Wilson pushed to the lead and stretched it out to double figures late with free throws to ice the game.

Wilson in the win was lead by senior, Karlie Steinle with 24 points and Shania Steinke who tallied 13 points.

B&B in the loss was lead by junior, Laura Sudbeck with 10 points but had a balanced scoring day with six players scoring all with four or more points. Junior, Ashley Kramer and Cassidy Hulsing both added eight points as they were the second leading scorers for the Falcons.

Falcons wrap up their season with the loss and finish the year with a 20-4 record, making the state tournament for the first time since 2006. B&B looks to next year when they will bring back a majority of the team but will have to replace key loss to graduation in seniors, Michelle Haug and Erica Sudbeck.
