Former Jackson Heights Cobra Helps Lead Bobcats to Volleyball Victory

After dropping the first set, the Peru State Bobcats bounced back to top AIB College of Business in Des Moines Wednesday night.  The 'Cats won 19-25, 25-16, 25-17, 25-15.

With the win, Peru State improves to 4-5 while the Eagles fell to 2-9.

Three Bobcats finished with nine kills each – Sarah Mertens (Lincoln), Carrie Lierz (Holton, Kan.), and Lindsey Nelson (Granite Bay, Calif.).

Bre Brandt (Papillion), had 6 kills and 14 assists.

The Bobcats will be competing in another tournament this weekend, their third tournament in as many weeks.   Heart of America Athletic Conference (HAAC) opponent Avila University of Kansas City, Mo., is hosting the tourney, but Peru State will not face the tourney hosts as they will play later in the regular season.

Three Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) opponents and one American Midwest Conference (AMC) team will make up the schedule for the 'Cats.  AMC's Park University will be the first team Peru State will face on Friday at 11 a.m.   The Pirates are presently 4-1.  Then, at 3 p.m., The Bobcats will take on Kansas Wesleyan University.

On Saturday, the 'Cats will first play McPherson College. The Spires of the University of St. Mary will be the Bobcats' opponent at 5 p.m. on Saturday.
