Peru State Volleyball Teams Picks Up 20th Win

It was a surprising three-set sweep, but it was sweet as the Peru State volleyball team topped Graceland University Tuesday night at the Al Wheeler Activity Center (AWAC). The 'Cats took care of business by winning 27-25, 25-19, 25-23.

With the win, the Bobcats improved to 20-12 overall and 3-4 in the Heart of America Athletic Conference (HAAC) while Graceland fell to 19-8 and 4-4 in the HAAC.

The 20th win in 2013 is the most wins for a Peru State volleyball team since the 2002 season.

The Bobcats have two regular season matches remaining – both in the HAAC. On Friday, Peru State will travel to Canton, Mo., where they will face the Culver-Stockton Wildcats in a match beginning at 7 p.m. Currently, the Wildcats are 21-9 overall and are tied with Peru State in the HAAC with a 3-4 mark. On Tuesday, the Wildcats upset Missouri Valley College on the Vikings' home court.

Next Tuesday, the Bobcats will host the Benedictine College Ravens beginning at 7 p.m.

As of now, the 'Cats have assured themselves of post-season HAAC play which will begin on Saturday, Nov. 9. Who and where they will play will be dependent upon the outcome of their next two matches. Peru State could be as high as fourth or as low as eighth in the final conference standings.
