Teammates from Southeast Community College and Butler Community College (Kan.) have signed letters of intent to play for the Peru State College (PSC) Bobcat volleyball team for 2013-14.

Allison Glathar (Dawson) and Tiffanie Powell (Wolfe City, Tex.) played for the Southeast Community College Storm in Beatrice, Neb.  Joining the Bobcats after playing for the Butler Community College Grizzlies are Hope Harsh (Cassoday, Kan.) and Rachel West (El Dorado, Kan.).

Glathar, a 5-3 libero was a graduate of HTRS High School and earned all-conference and all-state honorable mention in high school.  While at SCC, Glathar earned several honors including All-Region Academic, and All-Nebraska JUCO Honorable Mention, and Fort Scott All-Tournament Team.  Statistically, through 30 games in a Storm uniform this year, Glathar had a team-high 296 digs and added 20 set assists.

Like Glathar, Powell earned All-Nebraska JCO Honorable Mention.

At Peru State, Glathar plans to major in K-12 Health and Physical Education with a coaching endorsement while Powell intends to major in wildlife ecology and seek a minor in criminal justice.  The Storm finished the season 9-25.

The Grizzlies were one of the top teams in the Jayhawk Athletic Conference finishing 31-7 overall and 7-3 in the conference

West, a 5-11 right side/middle blocker, had 131 kills/1.52 per set, while hitting .258 on the season. West plans to be a sports and exercise science major at Peru State.

One of two setters in the Grizzlies' 6-2 offense, Harsh at 5-7, was the team's leading setter with 786 assists.  In addition, Harsh was the team's leading server with 36 service aces.

Bobcat coach Melvin Balogh is pleased to have these four junior college transfers joining his team.  Balogh said, “Adding four players with significant playing experience will help our team which is relatively young.  Also, having lost five seniors who played a great deal, this just brings some much needed depth to the squad.”
