Highland Scotties Basketball Sweeps KCKCC at Home

Highland Scotties continued the basketball season as both the women and men notched wins over Kansas City Kansas CC.

The fifth ranked lady Scotties notched their 21st win of the season taking down KCKCC 74-57 behind 21 points from Ashley Torres. Lady Scotties lead 36-28 at the half and outscored KCKCC by nine points in the second half. Holton native, Ryann Bowser and Anna Deegan chipped in 11 points each for the lady Scotties. Scotties used a 50% shooting night from the floor and 45% shooting from three-point land to push themselves to 21-1 on the season.

The men completed the sweep at home for the Scotties picking up the 81-73 win over KCKCC to move to 11-11 on the season. Highland trailed by one at the half but used a 44-37 second half to push to the win as Martell Collins paced the Scotties with 28 points and eight rebounds. Former Doniphan West Mustang, Marc Ellis chipped in 12 points on the night, hitting four threes of the seven he shot, while Brad Waterman scored 10 points.

Next up for the Scotties they have a big showdown with Johnson County CC on Wednesday on the road at 5:30pm for the women and the men to follow at 7:30pm.
