Highland men and women's basketball squared off in the Region semifinals on Tuesday and one continued their season while the other saw their season come to a close, as the Lady Scotties won 62-58 over Kansas City Kansas CC and the boys fell 89-75 at Brown Mackie College.

The Lady Scotties ranked fourth in the country played host to the 20th ranked team in Kansas City Kansas CC and worked out to a 39-25 advantage at the half but KCKCC made a push back outscoring Highland by 10 points in the second half. Scotties held on for the four-point win, 62-58 but struggled in the game as they were only 4-30 from three-point land, 14-35 from the charity stripe and were out rebounded by 13, but grinded on the win to improve to 29-2 on the season.

Highland was led by Ashley Torres who posted 14 points, including hitting eight of her 12 free throws, while Holton native, Ryann Bowser chipped in 12 points and India Johnson off the bench tallied 10 points.

The win puts the Lady Scotties back in the Region VI Championship game a contest they won last year to make the national tournament and ultimately finish fifth in the country. A familiar foe stands in the way of the Scotties from a return trip to the national tourney that being Johnson County CC who is ranked number two in the country at 30-1 on the season. The teams split their two games this year with each team winning on the opposing home court during the season, this time the game will be on a neutral court in Wichita at Koch Arena on Saturday, March 8th at 1:00pm.

For the Highland men they saw their season come to a close with an 89-75 loss on the road to Brown Mackie College. The Scotties were down 47-34 at the half and never able to overcome that hole wrapping up their season with a 16-16 record. Dominque Davis paced the Scotties with 28 points, while Martell Collins added 18 points in the loss.
