Atchison, Maur Hill & Perry Lecompton Highlight Horton Boys Golf Invite

Four area teams and two others put balls in flight on Tuesday on the golf course as Horton hosted a boys golf Invitational with Perry Lecompton, Atchison and Maur Hill-Mount Academy from the area and St. Mary's and Rossville, also.

The schools competed in the 2-Man, 4-Man and 6-Man competitions with three different schools winning each event on the day. (only five schools scored as teams - Horton did not)

The Atchison Redmen claimed the 2-Man team title as Gabe Julo and Jase Nelson competed together posting rounds of 77 and 95, respectively to post a team score of 172 beating out Perry Lecompton via tiebreaker. Julo's 77 was the best individual round of the day by eight strokes as he was the only Redmen golfer to finish in the top 10. Atchison took fifth in the 4-Man and 6-Man team competitions.

Leading the pack in the 4-Man competition was Maur Hill who put together a team score of 371 to claim the title by 12 strokes over Perry Lecompton. Ravens 4-Man team was led by Christian Wessal who shot an 86, while Mark McDermed and Skylar Busenbarrick both shot a 94 on the day and Canyon Miller added a 97. Wessal's 86 gave him third place individually, while Pat Sullivan who competed on Maur Hill's 2-Man team posted a 92 good for the eighth best round on the day. Busenbarrick and McDermed took home ninth and tenth, respectively individually. Ravens also took second place in the 6-Man competition and finished fifth in the 2-Man competition.

Perry Lecompton who finished second both the 2-Man and 4-Man competitions took home first in the 6-Man competition with a combined team score of 555, winning by 19 strokes. The Kaws were led by Jacob Morris who shot a 85 for the second best round on the day, while his teammate Jacob Morgison shot an 87 taking fourth individually. The Kaws Colby Easum rounded out the top five individually placing fifth with a 89 on the day. The remainder of the Kaws team consisted of Brett Koehler (96), Alex Haynes (98) and Kyle Shackelford (100).

For the host, Horton Chargers their best showing on the day came at the hands of Skylar Wabnum who shot a 105. While Rex Bruning (113), Cameron Smith (120) and Rylee Rodvelt (133) all competed for the Chargers, too.
