Pawnee City Sweeps Team Titles at Orville Rettig Invite

(KTNC) -  Pawnee City boys and girls teams were the winners of the Orville Rettig Invitational Track Meet in Nebraska City last Friday.
 Pawnee City boys totaled 153 points to edge the second place team from Omaha Christian Academy, which had 148 points. HTRS was 3rd with 93 points, with Lourdes Central Catholic 4th with 83 points and Johnson-Brock 5th with 40 points.
 Individually, the Indians’ Scott Borcher continues to set the pace in the throwing events, picking up wins in both the shot put and discus.
 Pawnee City’s Alex Menninga won the 3200-meter run and was 2nd in the 1600-meter; Voy Pearson was 1st in the 300-meter hurdles and 2nd in the 110-hurdles. Pawnee City won the 4-by-100-meter relay.
 For HTRS, Ben Railsback won the pole vault, and the Titans won the 4-by-400 and 4-by-800-meter relays. Freshman Chase Hain was 2nd in the discus and Logan Bredemeier was 2nd in the 400-meter dash.
 Johnson-Brock had one first place finish, with Sean Koperski winning the high jump.
 Colt West had a good day, winning three events – the 400-meter dash, 800 and 1600-meter runs. He was also second in the 3200-meter run.

 The girls’ team race wasn’t as close as the boys’, with Pawnee City totaling 165 points to 110 for second place Johnson-Brock. HTRS was 3rd with 88 points, Lourdes Central Catholic was 4th with 84 points, and Omaha Christian was 5th with 67 points.
 Pawnee City picked up eight event wins Friday. Three of those were from freshman Mariah Willey, who won the 100-meter dash, 100-meter hurdles, and long jump.
 The Indians also got first place finishes from Shelby Hundley in the 400-meter dash, Synthea Snyder in the 800-meter run, Ann Cline in the 1600-meter run, and Hannah Davis in the discus. Pawnee City also won the 4-by-100 meter relay.
 For Johnson-Brock, Shawna Newman won the 3200-meter run and Erin Bohling won the shot put. The Eagles also won the 4-by-800 meter relay.
 HTRS got a first place finish from Bailey Kuhlmann in the pole vault.
