Sacred Heart Boys, Pawnee City Girls, win District Track Titles

(KTNC) -  Falls City Sacred Heart hosted a Class D District Track Meet at Auburn Wednesday.

 Several athletes from area schools qualified for the State Track Meet based on their times and distances at the district meet.

 On the girls’ side of the meet, Pawnee City freshman Mariah Willey qualified for state in four events with first place finishes in the high jump, long jump, 100-meter dash, and 100-meter hurdles.
 Also, for Pawnee City, Junior Shelby Hundley won the 400-meter dash and 300-meter hurdles and was part of the Indians’ state qualifying 1600-meter relay team along with Sabre Menninga, Lydia Gyhra, and Synthea Snyder. Hundley also qualified for state in the 100-meter dash with a 2nd place finish at the district meet.
 Other Pawnee City qualifiers include Olivia Farwell in the pole vault (1st), Hannah Davis in the discus (2nd), and Ann Cline in the 1600-meter run (2nd).

State qualifiers for Falls City Sacred Heart are: freshman Jade Hill, with 2nd place finishes in both the triple jump and the 800-meter run, and Elizabeth Magdanz, with a runner-up finish in the pole vault.
Maggie Goltz also qualified for state in the triple jump.
 
State qualifiers from Sterling include: Jordan Lempka in the shot put and discus, Taylor Cockerill in the 800 and 1600, Wendy Sterkel in the 3200-meter run, Jazzy Eickhoff in the shot put, and the 3200-meter relay team of Tara Hesterman, Bailey Kahler, Wendy Sterkel, and Taylor Cockerill.
 
Johnson-Brock had a few state qualifiers, including: Nicole Carbajal in the 200 and 400-meter dashes, and Erin Bohling in the shot put.

 Class-D Southeast Nebraska schools will be well represented in the boys’ state meet.
 For Sacred Heart, sophomore Henry Arnold won both the triple jump and 400-meter dash at the district meet. He also ran a leg on the Irish’s state-qualifying 1600-meter relay team along with Chaz Dunn, Sawyer Kean, and Austin Malone.
 Malone qualified individually in the long jump and triple jump. Yianni Haralabidis qualified with a first place finish in the 200-meter dash and a second place finish in the 100-meter dash. Haralabidis is also part of the district champion 400-meter relay team along with Sawyer Kean, Chaz Dunn, and Austin Malone.
 Sean Strasheim qualified for state in the pole vault and Chaz Dunn qualified in the long jump.

 For Pawnee City, Scott Borcher was the district champion in both the shot put and discus, qualifying for state in both events. Colten Fisher qualified with a second place finish in the pole vault, and Alex Menninga won the 3200-meter run.

 Qualifying for state from Sterling are: Kody Benson in the shot put and discus, Trey Trauernicht with first place finishes in the 800 and 1600-meter runs, Rhet Dirks qualified for state with second place finishes in the 800 and 1600-meter runs, Seth Harms qualified in the 3200-meter run, and Chris Wenzl qualified in the 300-meter hurdles and shot put.
 Sterling also won the 3200-meter relay, with the team of Seth Harms, Rhet Dirks, Dylan Benson, and Trey Trauernicht.

 Class B and C District Meets are today.
 The State Track Meet is May 23 and 24 at Burke Stadium in Omaha.
