Both Sabetha and Doniphan County took to the diamond on the road on Tuesday night each playing a team from Nebraska and each coming come with a loss at the end of the night. For each team it was a tale of two different games as Sabetha fell to Auburn 12-10 in an offensive filled contest, while Doniphan County suffered the 2-0 loss to Falls City in a pitcher's duel.

Sabetha Falls On the Road to Auburn In Offensive Affair

It was a game packed with offense on Tuesday night between Sabetha and Auburn as the Raptors went on the road and fell to Auburn 12-10.

Sabetha struck first in the competition leading 3-0, but Auburn took the lead in the bottom of the second behind a five-run inning and never gave up the lead from that point on despite, Sabetha's best efforts to mount a comeback. In the top of the third Sabetha drew within one making a 5-4 game behind a run scored in the frame, while scored a pair of runs in the fifth to provide separation again. The Raptors wasted no time in closing the gap once more as they answered with two-runs in the top of the sixth, but a five-run bottom of the six by Auburn gave them a firm grasp on the game as they used two hits and four free passes in the inning to do damage. Leading 12-6 going into the top of the seventh Auburn was three outs away from the win, but those three outs didn't come easy as Sabetha took advantage of three Auburn errors, three hits and a walk in the inning to score four-runs, but ultimately came up short leaving the bases loaded to end the game.

Keegan and Gaven Schumann lead the Sabetha offense on the night each finishing with three hits, as Sabetha notched 14-hits as a team. Tyler Ulrich, Dustin Boeckman and Adam Herl each added multi-hit games for Sabetha, who fell to 15-12 on the season with the loss. The Raptors will next be in action Thursday, July 3rd at home versus Wymore (Neb.) with the senior legion game at 8:00pm.

Doniphan County Loses Pitcher's Duel to Falls City On the Road

Hits were limited between Doniphan County and Falls City on Tuesday night as Falls City hosted the non-league showdown and got enough done to grab the 2-0 win.

A pair of miscues ultimately plagued Doniphan County in the contest leading to both of Falls City runs as they plated a run in the fourth after a dropped infield throw by Doniphan County and added another in the fifth after a misplayed pop fly. Falls City mustered only six hits in the game, but Doniphan County was only able to register a pair of hits, as Phoenix Keller and Colton Masters were the only guys to notch a hit in the loss.

On the mound Nathan Gaarder struck out six for Doniphan County and went six strong innings, but took the loss in the competition as Derek Bippes outdueled him on the mound with the complete game shutout, while striking out nine. Bippes added a two hit game offensively with an RBI to aide his cause on the mound.

With the loss Doniphan County fell to 10-5 on the season and will next be in action on Thursday, July 3rd in a league doubleheader at Seneca starting at 6:00pm. The 6:00pm game will be carried on Kanzaland radio (103.9 KNZA & 92.1 KMZA).
