Atchison, Marysville & Perry Lecompton Compete at Hayden Girls Tennis Invite

A trio of area teams hit the tennis courts on Tuesday at the Hayden Invitational in Topeka as Atchison, Marysville and Perry Lecompton competed along with three other teams. 

For the Atchison Lady Red it was a tough day of competition against top flight competitors. In singles action Stormy Knott and Jane Boldridge both went 0-3 against. Knott in singles number one action fell 8-0 to competitor from Hayden, lost 8-1 to Marysville competitor and fell 8-4 to competitor from Perry Lecompton. For Boldridge she fell 8-0 and 8-1 to competitors from Marysville and Wamego, while making it a close match up against Hayden falling 8-5. 

In doubles action the tandem of Celina Binkley and Brienna Dove placed fourth the day and notched the lone Lady Red win beating Hayden in pool play 8-2, while falling to Marysville and Wamego 8-3 in their other contests. The team of Alyxus Thomas and Olivia Wabski competed in doubles number two action and went 0-3 with a 8-0 loss to Wamego, 8-1 loss to Marysville and tough 8-5 loss to Hayden. 

For Marysville they had three first place finishes on the day as Megan Hill went 3-0 in singles number two action with an 8-3 win over Hayden, 8-0 win over Atchison and 8-3 victory over Bishop Meige in the Championship match. Both doubles teams for the Lady Bulldogs earned first place finishes going 3-0 on the day. The team of Frese and Holthaus notched and 8-0 and 8-3 win in pool play against Hayden and Atchison and beat Miege 8-6 in the Championship match, while Williams and Ronnebaum won the doubles number two competition with 8-1 wins over Hayden and Atchison and an 8-5 win over Miege in the Championship match. Madison Nieberding took third in the singles number one action going 2-1; winning 8-1 over Atchison in pool play but falling to Hayden 8-0 and winning the third place math 7-3 over Wamego. 

 

Perry Lecompton had a pair of third and fifth place finishes at the Hayden Invitational. In singles number two and doubles number two action the Kaws earned third place finishes and fifth place in the singles and doubles number one action.
