Reigning 8-Man Division II player of the year Isaac Detweiler began his senior season for Axtell with an absolute monster game against Cair Paravel in the opener.

The Eagles pulled away in the second half to win 82-38 on Friday. They trailed 32-30 at one point but outscored Cair Paravel 52-6 the rest of the way.

Detweiler finished the game 12 of 18 passing for 169 yards and four touchdowns. He added 205 rushing yards on 24 carries with four more touchdowns.

This is the first game for Isaac since the State Title game performance last November where he tallied 420 plus all purpose yards.

Last season he compiled nearly 2,000 passing yards and 1,300 rushing yards with 63 total touchdowns.

Axtell remains the top team in 8-Man Division II as they look to repeat as State Champs in 2022.
