Centralia Boys & Girls Win Frankfort Track & Field Invite (Full Results)

It was a showdown of multiple Twin Valley League teams Frankfort hosted a track and field Invitational with fellow TVL teams, Hanover, Onaga, Centralia and Valley Heights.

For the second straight meet the Panthers of Centralia took home first place finishes as a team for both the girls and boys. On the boys side the Panthers amassed 122 total points behind nine first place finishes in the events, while on the girls side the Panthers totalled 115 points with only five first place finishes. Both Panthers squads won first as a team by over 30-plus points.

Finishing out the team finishes on the boys side was Frankfort taking second, Onaga grabbing third, Hanover placing fourth and Valley Heights tallying fifth. In the girls competition it was Frankfort taking home second, Hanover placing third, Onaga grabbing fourth and Valley Heights finishing fifth.

Behind those nine first place finishes the Centralia boys team paced themselves to that first place finish with two guys winning seven of the nine first place finishes. Senior, Lukas Koch returned to compete with his team after competing in the Wichita Pre-State Challenge and at the Frankfort Invitational he took home four first place finishes. Koch raced his way to wins in the 400 meter dash (54.24) and 800 (2:18.12), 1600 and 3200 meter runs. He won the 1600 by more than 30 seconds with a time of 4:27.91 and won the 3200 by over 20 seconds with a time of 10:54.47.

Junior, Brett Burdiek joined Koch with multiple event wins tallying three first place finishes on the day winning the 110 and 300 meter hurdles and high jump. Burdiek continued to register wins in the hurdles competitions this time registering times of 16.79 and 45.99, respectively, while he leapt to the win in the high jump with a leap of 5-10.

Panthers also tallied first place finishes in the 4x100 meter Relay (47.01) and pole vault which Cody Huerter captured with a 11-06 vault.

Only one other school had a multi-event winner on the boys side with Hanover Wildcat, Evan Zabokrtsky who won both the 100 and 200 meter dashes behind times of 11.55 and 24.02, respectively.

The other three schools, Onaga, Frankfort and Valley Heights each grabbed at least two first placer finishers on the day. For the Buffaloes it was wins in the 4x400 meter relay (3:46.45), long jump and shot put. Kyle Bliss took home the long jump crown with a leap of 17-10.5, while the shot put title went, too Mychal Kolterman as he registered a toss of 40-05.5.

Frankfort on the day was lead by a win in the 4x800 meter relay (9:28.41) and the javelin throw. Alex Surdez took home the javelin throw crown behind a toss of 162-09, over nine inches better than second place.

For the Mustangs of Valley Heights it was Derek Trimble and Dylan Parker who won first place in events. Trimble took home the triple jump (38-02) title, while his teammate Parker won the discus 116-10.

In the girls competitions on the day the Panthers of Centralia took home first place as a team taking home five first place finishes. Freshman, Tara Bergman took home a pair of first place finishes winning the shot put (34-06.5) and discus (103-07). Sophomore, Liz Hasenkamp made it a sweep in the throwing events by winning the javelin with a toss of 114-02.

The other two first place finishes for the Panthers came in the 200 meter dash and 3200 meter run, behind performances from a pair of freshman. Chelsea Huerter took home the 200 meter dash title with a time of 29.73, while Mayda Stallbaumer paced her way to the 3200 meter win (14:32.83).

Hanover Wildcats, despite finishing third as a team took home the most first place finishers with six on the day. Highlighting things for the Wildcats were their relay teams with wins in the 4x400 and 4x800 meter relays, with times 4:26.44 and 10:54.80, respectively. Three more of their first place finishes came in running events also with Colleen Klecan winning the 400 meter dash (1:05.44), Courtney Jueneman won the 800 meter run (2:29.36) and Claire Bruna took home the 1600 meter run title (5:58.09). Paige Doebele grabbed the other first place finish winning the long jump with a leap of 13-08.25.

The Buffaloes of Onaga took home three first place finishes winning the 4x100 meter relay (55.12) and getting first places in the 100 meter dash and high jump. Rebekah Glessner won the 100 meter dash behind a time of 14.31, while Jocelyn Marten leapt her way to a win in the high jump with a leap of 4-08.

Both Frankfort and Valley Heights finished with a pair of first place finishes on the girls side. For the Wildcats it was Jessa Jones winning the pole vault (8-00) and Kyla Hardwick winning the 300 meter hurdles (55.81). Mustangs saw Sidney Blackburn win the 100 meter hurdles (18.39), while Kelsey Potter won the triple jump (31-07.50).

The Frankfort Invite featured many great performances on the day with Twin Valley League teams dualing it out.
