Sabetha's Schuette & Cox Win at Royal Valley CC Invite

Cross country season is getting into midseason and plenty of races took place in the Kanzaland area, yesterday. The Royal Valley Panthers hosted a cross country meet that featured over 50 boy’s runners and 40 plus girls runners in the competition.

It was another Big Seven squad highlight the cross country in the Kanzaland area, yesterday again as the Sabetha Bluejays tallied both individual first place finishes and first place as a team in the girls competition, with second place for the boys team, as Royal Valley boys took first place.

In the girls competition the ranked Bluejays squad dominated their way to the team crown behind seven runners finishing in the top 11, highlighted by Taryn Schuette winning the race with a time of 15:59.23. Schuette’s teammate, Megan Plattner finished fourth, while the rest of the Bluejays finished seventh through eleventh (Maggie Clary, Ashley Annan, Lindsey Aberle, Brianna Gruber, Claire Meyer).

Two other Kanzaland area runners highlight, the girls top 10 finishes as Connor Strader of Holton placed second and Kaitlynn Little of Jackson Heights placed fifth.

For the boys, it was Sabetha capturing the top time with Trenton Cox, while seven of the other top 10 spots on the day where also captured by Kanzaland area runners. Helping lead Royal Valley to the boys team title, Thomas Broxterman placed third, followed by Eric Mellenbruch of Jackson Heights in fourth and Corbin Cox of Sabetha of Sabetha. Sixth place through eighth was also Kanzaland are runners, as Dorian French of Royal Valley took sixth, Dalton Colhouer of Holton took seventh and Noah Krehbiel placed eighth for Sabetha. Rounding out the top 10 was Garrett Beecher of Holton.

Midseason is upon us in cross country and the Kanzaland area runners are looking for midseason form as they prepare for league and state.
