Week Six KVA Volleyball Rankings -- click here

It's the final stretch of the regular season for volleyball in the state of Kansas and in the week six poll released by the Kansas Volleyball Association six area teams continue to be ranked in the polls, with only two slightly changing position in the latest polls.

Class 1A continues to tout the top teams in the area, as the B&B Falcons and Centralia Panthers both remain the top team in their respective classes. For the Falcons they continue to win this season posting a 29-2 mark thus far to remain number one in Class 1A-Division II. B&B after a pair of league wins over Clifton-Clyde and Blue Valley-Randolph on Tuesday the Falcons remained unbeaten in league play with 11-0 mark in the league and have won their last 26 matches. The Twin Valley League tournament looms this weekend on the Falcons home floor and B&B will be the number one seed in the tournament and B&B will wrap up the regular season Tuesday (October 22nd) at Valley Heights for a league triangular.

In Class 1A Division I the Centralia Panthers remain number cruising past a pair of league teams in their last action on Tuesday beating Frankfort and Doniphan West both in straight sets to improve to 25-5 on the season and 11-1 in the league. The Panthers will hit the court again on Saturday at the TVL tournament were they will be the number two seed in the tournament action and then will wrap up the regular season on Tuesday (October 22nd) at home in a league triangular.

Class 2A continues to house a pair of area teams as both the Jefferson County North Chargers and Washington County Tigers both remained ranked this week but each fell one spot in the latest poll. The Chargers have continued their strong season posting a 29-8 record on the year and remaining unbeaten in Northeast Kansas league at 14-0 with a pair of league wins this past Tuesday, having them at number three this week in the polls. JCN also last week took to the court in the Desoto Invite going 3-3 and while the record doesn't sound impressive the competition level for the Chargers was 4A and 5A schools in the tournament. Chargers will wrap up their season with a pair of league games on Tuesday (October 22nd) at Valley Falls for a triangular.

The Washington County Tigers moved back one spot also falling to number four in the latest rankings this week. Tigers recently picked up a pair of wins over league opponents this past Tuesday beating Axtell and Linn, after taking third place at the Marysville Invite over the past weekend, that as Washington County at 23-6 on the season and 11-2 in the TVL. Washington County will take to the court in the TVL tournament this coming weekend as they will be the number three seed and then they will wrap up the regular season with a matchup against league opponents in Hanover in a triangular.

Class 4A Division II is the other class that continues to have area teams in the KVA rankings as Santa Fe Trail and Jeff West remained ranked second and ninth, respectively in the latest poll. Santa Fe Trail continued to dominate the Big Seven league sweeping Riverside in a pair of contests on Tuesday, wrapping up their season and giving them the Big Seven league title with a perfect 16-0 league record. On the season the Chargers posted a 33-4 record and now set up to get ready for Sub-State action come Saturday October 26th.

The Jeff West Tigers remained ranked this week and split their latest Big Seven league action against Nemaha Valley, moving to 11-4 in league play and 21-12 on the season. The Tigers hit the court next Thursday (October 17th) at KC Piper for a triangular and then wrap up the regular season with a pair of Big Seven league games at home against Hiawatha.

As the final stretch of the season is upon us the teams in the rankings and across the state have their sights set on closing the regular season out with momentum to head into postseason play action.
