It was a cold brisk fall night and a pair of Twin Valley League 8-Man teams meet up on the football field looking to put the past few weeks in the past and find some momentum and success again on the field.

The Frankfort Wildcats traveled to take Axtell to take on the Eagles as both team's came into the contest reeling from tough losses the last two weeks for each squad, each looking to change their fortune and at the end of the night it was the Axtell Eagles changing their fortune with a 47-0 win; ending the game with on the first drive in the third quarter.

Looking for a shot in the arm the Eagles went to sophomore quarterback, Colton Buessing giving him the start and he didn't disappoint accounting for five the team’s seven touchdowns in the matchup in some fashion.

After a defensive spot early the Axtell Eagles used a short field against Frankfort and capitalized on three plays with Buessing trotting in from 18-yards out for the initial score of the game, making it 8-0 with the two-point conversion. Frankfort's offense struggled to move the ball the next few drives and throughout the game and the Eagles continued to take advantage of short fields.

Buessing added another touchdown on the ground from 13-yards out and then took to the air to find score number three with a 31-yard connection to Shane Talbot for a touchdown. The Eagles and Buessing continued a two-minute style offense and opened up the passing game with the running game alongside it and continued to pour on the yards and points against Frankfort.

Axtell added three more scores in the first half with a six-yard touchdown run by Buessing, a 26-yard touchdown passes from Buessing to Dylan Heiman and a thundering 60-yard touchdown run by Derek Porting, making it 41-0 at the half against Frankfort. On the first touchdown of the second half the Eagles took over on the Wildcat 10-yard line after senior, Payton Heinen picked off Frankfort quarterback, Jake Rose.

Deferring in the first game gave Axtell the ball in the first in the second half and some of the reserves stepped in to take over the offense for the Eagles but the result was the same as Brice Koch orchestrated an scoring drive that cumulated in a two-yard touchdown run by himself to end the game early in the third quarter 47-0.

Sophomore quarterback, Buessing on the night was 13-17 for 155 yards and two touchdowns, while rushing for 71 yards on just seven carries for three scores. Porting added a solid offensive night with three carries for 66 yards and touchdown and five receptions for 61 yards.

Frankfort struggled throughout the night only registering around 72 total yards of offense in the contest. With the loss the Wildcats fall to 1-5 on the season and now turn their attention to a non-district game next week at Hampton (Neb).

The Axtell Eagles with the win improved to 4-3 on the season and now will finish of district play next week at Blue Valley-Randolph.
