Centralia Girls & Boys Take Track Titles at Frankfort Invite Last Friday

Last Friday five Twin Valley League schools took to the track to compete against each other at the Frankfort Middle Invitational and it was the Centralia Panther girls and boys coming out on top at the end of the day.

In the girls competition Centralia totaled 165 points taking first, while Hanover followed in second (142) and Frankfort rounded out the top three (73). Onaga took fourth place (68) and Valley Heights placed fifth (52). While on the boys side the team finishes were a mirror image of the girls just with different point totals, as Centralia tallied 152 points to take first, Hanover posted 112 placing second and Frankfort took third with 96 points. Onaga and Valley Heights finished fourth and fifth with 92 and 91 points.

The Panthers were led by 13 first place finishes between the girls and boys on the day. On the boys side JT Rosine led the way as he won both the high jump (5'10) and discus throw (130'00), while also teaming with Sam Steinlage, Wyatt VanDorn and Darrian Turner to claim the 4x100 meter relay title with a time of 45.19. Both Steinlage and Turner each won another event on the day, too as Sam leapt his way to the win in the triple jump (40'09) and Turner raced his way to the 100 meter dash win (11.60). Brett Burdiek and Joey Ferron joined their fellow Panthers with gold medal performances, taking first in the 110 meter hurdles (16.70) and shot put (44'08), respectively.

On the girls side of competition for Centralia, Mayda Stallbaumer, Chelsea Huerter, Drew Kramer, Riley Hanzlik and Sadie Jones all won events while, one of them was also on the Panthers 4x100 meter relay team that won. Stallbaumer, Jones and Kramer all took first on the track winning the 800 meter run (2:40.48), 3200 meters (14:00.22) and 300 meter hurdles (58.38), respectively. While, Huerter and Hanzlik each won field events taking the pole vault (8'06) and javelin (112'03) titles. Huerter also competed on the Panthers 4x100 team that posted a time of 56.48 to win, as Kennedy Korpi, Cassidy Haulfer and Blair Burdiek made up the rest of the team.

Hanover who took home second place for both the boys and girls as teams, saw plenty of top individual performances on the day, led by Katelyn Jueneman who won four events. Katelyn raced her way to wins in the 200 and 400 meter dashes with times of 28.81 and 1:05.28, while leaping her way to wins in the high jump (4'08) and long jump (14'04.75). Paige Doebele also claimed multiple event titles for the Hanover girls on the day as she won both the 100 meter hurdles (18.33) and triple jump (31'10.50). On the boys side Hanover took home four first place finishes all on the track. Wildcats took home gold in both the 4x400 and 4x800 meter relays with times of 3:44.05 and 9:15.49, respectively as Andrew Bruna, Evan Zabokrtsky, Preston Jueneman and Austin Diederich ran on the 4x400 team and Trey Loshe, Paden Pralle, Michael Jueneman and Adam Zarybnicky each ran on the 4x800 team. Zabokrtsky and Preston Jueneman both also won other events winning the 200 and 400 meter dashes with times of 23.53 and 51.06, respectively.

The host Frankfort grabbed three first place finishes on the day as Makayla Rogers, Alex Roeder and Jacob Studer all won events. Rogers sprinted her way to the win in the 100 meter dash with a time of 14.91, while Roeder ran to the win in the 800 meter run (2:13.09) and Studer won the 300 meter hurdles (44.43).

Onaga Buffalos despite taking fourth place as a team in both the boys and girls competition had four first place finishes on the day. On the girls side the lady Buffalos took home the 4x400 and 4x800 meter relays with times of 4:42.69 and 11:07.00, respectively as Jocelyn Marten, Shay Duer, Maggie Revell and Rebekah Glessner ran on the 4x400 team and Alexis Van Donge joined Marten, Revell and Glessner on the 4x800 team. Revell also won another event as she raced to a win in the 1600 meter run posting a time of 6:18.47. In the boys competition Michael Bliss was the only Buffalo to claim a first place finish as he won the javelin throw behind a toss of 144'07.

For Valley Heights their day was highlighted by six first places including a multiple gold day by Adrian Pishny won raced his way to wins in the 1600 and 3200 meter runs with times of 5:06.27 and 10:59.39, respectively. Derek Trimble joined another pole vault win this year with a vault of 12'06 and Logan Woodyard claimed the long jump with a leap of 20'11. On the girls side Sidney Blackburn and Shelby Vermetten both tossed their way to wins finishing first in the shot put (35'11) and discus (110'00), respectively.
