The Jefferson County North Chargers stepped out of the area and went to the Central Heights volleyball Invitational on Saturday and came home with a third place finish.

The day started with the Chargers getting on the court for pool play action as they were in Pool "B" and finished second in the pool to move into the Championship bracket. JCN picked up a pair of wins against Pleasanton and Osawatomie winning each match in three sets. The Chargers won 25-12, 26-28, 25-16 over Pleasanton and beat Osawatomie 25-20, 25-13, 25-21. The Chargers fell to Girard in three sets 19-25, 25-22, 25-13 to finish pool play 2-1 and second behind Girard who won the pool.

That set up JCN against the winner of Pool "A" which was Erie, who topped the Chargers in straight sets, 25-20, 25-17 in the Semifinals, to put the Chargers in third place match. In the third place competition JCN faced off against the host of the Invitational in Central Heights and once again played a three set match, gaining the victory 25-22, 25-27, 25-20 to finish third at the tournament with a 3-2 record.

Girard won the tournament by beating Erie in the Championship contest in three sets.

The JCN Chargers will wrap up the volleyball season on Tuesday at the Valley Falls Triangular in Northeast Kansas League action at 5:00pm.
