The Legion baseball season is underway for Sabetha and the Raptors picked up their first win of the season in their second game of the year by taking down Auburn (NE), 11-8 back on Saturday.

Auburn struck first in the matchup plating a single run in the top of the first inning, but Sabetha answered with a pair of runs of their own in the bottom of the first to lead 2-1 after just one inning. The offense continued to do work for the Raptors in the second and third frames plating three and five runs in each inning, respectively to give them a commanding 10-1 lead after three innings. Auburn chipped away scoring two in the fifth, one in the sixth and four in the top of the seven, but with an insurance run in the sixth and the early cushion Sabetha earned the 11-8 win.

The Raptors racked up 12 hits in the contest with Dustin Boeckman leading the charge with a three hit game and picked up three RBI's, too. Blake Popkess added a two RBI day and Adam Herl notched an RBI in the contest, also.

With the win Sabetha legion baseball moves to 1-1 on the season after a season opening loss to Fairbury (15-13). The Raptors won't hit the diamond again until Sunday May 24th when they travel to Nebraska for road games at Wymore and Shockley (Fairbury). The Northeast Kansas League legion season commences on May 31st with six of the seven League teams in action in double headers against each other.
