Three Area Teams & Five Individuals Qualify for 1A Boys State Golf

Full 2015 1A Regional Boys Golf Results -- Goessel Regional & Pleasanton Regional

Several area teams teed it up on Monday for Regional golf and in Class 1A the area teams competed in action in two different Regionals.

Immaculata, Centralia, Valley Heights, Frankfort all hit the course at Goessel and proved well with qualifiers for State, while Linn and Hanover both teed it up at Pleasanton each earning a pair of State qualifiers, also.

At Goessel the Immaculata Raiders led the charge claiming the Regional title behind a team score of 375, winning by 22-strokes to qualify for State as a team. In Class 1A the Top three teams per Regional qualify for State and finishing second and third behind Immaculata was Centralia and Valley Heights posting team scores of 397 and 470, respectively.

Immaculata on their way to top team performance the Raiders were led by four Top 10 individual performances of the 31 individual competitors. Evin Wheaton led Immaculata taking second place individually with an 83, while Dawson Schroeder also shot an 83 and took third. Ian Wheaton and Jacob Murphy grabbed eighth and ninth place finishes on the day for the Raiders as they posted rounds of 101 and 108. While, Max Campbell and Justin Varney also competed for the Raiders qualify for State with the team.

Centralia was led by Ryan Vernon who won the Regional title after notching a round of 83, picking up another first place finish this year. Jason Gore was the only other Panther to finish in the Top 10 as he placed fourth behind a round of 86, while Danny Mueting and Sean Rempe each notched rounds of 114 to finish 11th and 12th, respectively. Kobe Rumbo and Chase Boyce also qualified for State with Centralia as a team.

Valley Heights fielded just enough for a team score with four competitors and earned third place as a team. Payton Manley lead the way individually with a round of 95 to finish sixth overall at Regionals, while Quentin Blaske, Bryan Yungeberg and Katlynn Treff all qualified for State with Manley as a team. 

Frankfort Wildcat, Marshall Reutti was the only other area competitor to qualify for State at Goessel as he was one of the Top five individual scores from non-qualifying teams, after taking 13th place at Regionals with a round of 114.

At Pleasanton both Linn and Hanover had a pair of golfers qualify for State as they grabbed spots in the Top five individual scores from non-qualifying teams. For Linn Andrew Meyer took fourth place overall after carding a round of 110, while Kale Richardson placed 15th with a 140. Aaron Hendrickson and Stuart Graf each qualified for State in 1A for Hanover after placing 12th and 14th at Regionals with rounds of 133 and 134, respectively.

All the area competitors will hit the course one final time this season on Tuesday, May 26th in Seneca at Spring Creek golf course.
