While Mother Nature stopped Doniphan County and Atchison from having their League double header on Sunday, it didn't stop Seneca and Oskaloosa as the two squared off in Oskaloosa in two tight ball games.

When it was all said and done it was a split between Seneca and Oskaloosa with both team fighting for the win they got as Seneca won 3-1 in game one in come from behind fashion and almost did the same in game two but in 11 innings Oskaloosa got the 5-4 win for the split.

Oskaloosa struck first in game one leading 1-0 all the way up until the seventh inning when Seneca finally got to Oskaloosa pitching scoring all three of their runs in the seventh to come from behind and take the 3-1 win. Tyler Moison gave Oskaloosa five solid innings in the game and went 2-3 at the plate scoring the lone Oskaloosa run, but it was not enough in the contest.

Just like game one Oskaloosa got on the board early this time plating four runs in the first two innings to lead 4-0, which stood up until the seventh inning when the Seneca bats came alive again and tied the game with four runs, forcing extra innings. In the bottom of the 11th inning Oskaloosa got a leadoff single by Whaley and after a sac-bunt got him to second, a strikeout was recorded by Seneca, bring up Justin Sharp with two-outs and he singled up the middle to bring Whaley home for the walk-off RBI and gave Oskaloosa the 5-4 win. Sharp led the Oskaloosa offense going 3-5 while Jared Miller and Bryce Stottlemire each pitched two scoreless innings and Dalton VanHoutan added three scoreless. Jordan Burghart pitched five solid innings but did surrender the four runs in the seventh to Seneca.

The split puts Oskaloosa at 5-2 on the season and now 5-1 in League play, while Seneca moved to 6-2 on the year and 4-2 in League action. Both teams will be back in action on Wednesday as Seneca travels to Marysville for double header starting at 6:00pm in non-league play and Oskaloosa will host Doniphan County for League action starting at 6:00pm.

Coverage of NEKL legion baseball action continues Tuesday night on 103.9 KNZA as Sabetha hosts Atchison and the 6:00pm will be broadcasted on KNZA.
