One Area School & 10 Wrestlers Ranked in Latest KWCA Rankings - Dec. 8th

The wrestling season is underway with all the area wrestlers with at least a few matches under their belt from tournament or dual action on the mats. With action underway the Kansas Wrestling Coaches Association has released a new set of rankings for each classification and one area school and 10 area wrestlers are ranked in their respective classification. 

The Holton Wildcats are up two spots in the Class 4A rankings this week as they started the season preseason ranked seventh as a team and are tied for fifth in the rankings as team in 4A this week, tied with Pratt and Andover Central, while Santa Fe Trail ranks number one. Three Wildcats are the rankings of their respective weight classes as both senior, Justin Pool and junior, Tyler Price remained ranked at their preseason rankings of second at 138lbs and fourth at 152lbs, respectively, while senior, Justin Rieschick who started the year preseason ranked third at 145lbs now ranks number one in 4A. 

Five area grapplers remained ranked from the preseason rankings in Class 3-2-1A, while two new area wrestlers join the rankings this week. ACCHS Tiger junior, Hunter Ostertag remained ranked at 120lbs but moves down one spot to second, while his teammate junior, Karl Scholz jumped into the rankings at 106lbs this week checking in at fifth. 

Doniphan West Mustang senior, Garret Dunlap started the season strong at the Mission Valley Invitation winning his 160lbs weight class and checks in a number two this week in the rankings, up two spots. While, McLouth Bulldog Adam Perkins remains ranked second at 220lbs in the latest rankings. 

Marysville Bulldogs fell out of the team rankings but have three wrestlers in the rankings this week as both Chris Deters and Jacob Minzmyer each remain ranked at 132lbs and 170lbs, respectively coming in at third and sixth, after helping Marysville win the Mission Valley Invitational team title. Deters moved up one spot, while Mintzmyer is down two spots in the rankings. Bulldog junior, Nick Ackerman jumps in to the rankings this week coming in at fifth at 182lbs in 3-2-1A.
