Vermillion Wins Valley Heights Boys Golf Invitational

Despite the rainy weather all week the weather cleared up enough for boys golf action as Valley Heights hosted an Invitational. 

At the end of the action it was Vermillion continuing their strong boys golf season claiming another tournament crown finishing with a four-man score of 180 for their first team, which was 22-strokes better than second place. Onaga took second place with a team score of 202, while Vermillion's second team had a team score of 212 to finish third and Washington County was one-stroke behind for fourth with a 213 team score. Linn notched a 234 team score for fifth place, while Republic County JV carded a 252 for sixth and Marysville JV placed seventh with a 276. Valley Heights and Hanover each had golfers in action, too but did not field a full four-man team. 

Leading the way on the day was Jason Gore of Vermillion who shot a 40 to take first place, while three of teammates also finished in the Top 10 and nine Vermillion golfers posted a Top 20 finish out of 44 individual golfers. After Gore at first place, Otto Nermo and Ryan Vernon grabbed fourth and fifth place finishes with rounds of 45 and 46, respectively and Spencer Dressman posted a 48 to take tenth place. 

Onaga on their way to second place as a team had Tyler Fleming leading the way with a second place finish individually after carding a round of 41, while two other Buffaloes finished in the Top 20. 

The host Valley Heights had the third best individual round by a golfer on the day as Bryan Yungeberg notched a 44 on his home course for third place. 

Linn Bulldog, Andrew Meyer with a 46 grabbed a sixth place finish on the day at the Valley Heights Invitational. 

While three Washington County Tigers in Evan Ouellette, Hunter Johnson and Sidney Applegarth carded rounds of 46, 46 and 48 to finish seventh, eighth and ninth on the day.
