22 Area Football Players Earn All-State Honors, While Several Others Named Honorable Mention

It was another strong football season in Northeast Kansas highlighted by a pair of State Champions and four teams that made the final four of their classification in the playoffs. A total of 22 area athletes were named All-State with one getting Top 11 honors in the State and several others getting honorable mention All-State honors.

The top honoree from the area comes in Class 2-1A from the 13-0 Class 2-1A State Champion Troy Trojans in senior, Cuttar Huss who was named Top 11 in the State in all classes. Huss earned that honor in both the Varsity Kansas and Capital Journal publications, while being named All-State at end. His teammates, fellow seniors, Reid Greaser and Wil Smith both earned All-State 2-1A honors at quarterback and defensive line, respectively. Five other area guys earned All-State honors in Class 2-1A. Washington County Tigers made the 2-1A playoffs this year and Hunter Kier and Jerrod Otott picked up honorable mention honors at linebacker and offensive line, while fellow Twin Valley League team the Valley Heights Mustangs has senior, Hunter Stevenson get All-State honors at runningback. Jefferson County North Charger senior, Braden Scneider got the nod for All-State at offensive line and McLouth senior, Mystikal Randel also picked up All-State honors at defensive line.

The Hanover Wildcats also claimed a State title this year going 12-0 and winning the 8-Man Division II crown and had a trio of seniors earn All-State honors. Senior, Will Bruna at quarterback along with seniors, Adam Fristchi and Adam Zarynicky each getting All-State honors at linebacker. Frankfort Wildcat senior, Jedd Rose and junior, Lys Nack each also got the nod for All-State honors in 8-Man Division II getting the honors at defensive line and kicker, respectively.

In 8-Man Division I the Clifton-Clyde Eagles made the playoffs and Eagle senior, Caleb Charbonneau was named All-State on offensive as an at large player.

A quartet of players in Class 3A earned All-State honors this year led by a duo from Nemaha Central who made a deep playoff run this year qualify for the Sub-State game. Thunder senior quarterback, Ryan Hasenkamp and senior linebacker, Trenton Henry both picked up All-State honors. Sabetha senior, Eric Renyer and Marysville senior, Greg Martin each got the nod for All-State honors also coming at defensive line and offensive line/defensive line, respectively.

The Holton Wildcats made the Sub-State round of the Class 4A-Division II playoffs putting together a strong year and a Wildcat duo earned All-State honors. Seniors, Spencer Baum and Brandon Lenherr each earned All-State at runningback and offensive line.

Class 4A-Division I had two area players get the nod for All-State honors as Atchison seniors, Adam Smith and Austin Bonnel each picked up All-State honors at defensive back and specialist, respectively.
