Nine Area Wrestlers & One Team Ranked in Latest KWCA Rankings

The high school wrestling season is underway with several area teams hitting the mats last week in dual action or tournament matchups. The Kansas Wrestling Coaches Association has released its latest set of rankings and nine area wrestlers and one team are featured in the 3-2-1A and 4A polls. 

In Class 4A only one area wrestler remains ranked and that is Holton Wildcat senior, Tyler Price who checks in #1 again at 170lbs, the same spot he started the season ranked. Price helped the Wildcats go 4-1 at the Spring Hill Duals to open the tournament while going 2-2 on the mats himself in action. 

Marysville Bulldogs lead the area grapplers ranked in Class 3-2-1A as the Bulldogs opened the season by winning the Mission Valley Invitational as a team and rank sixth in the Top 10 teams in 3-2-1A KWCA rankings. Senior, Jacob Mintzmyer ranks #1 again at 170lbs and started the year going 3-0 to win his weight class at the Mission Valley Invitational, while senior, Jacob Stryker ranks #4 at 182lbs and took third at the Mission Valley Invitational to start his year on the mats. Sophomore, Jackob Snellings is also in the rankings for Marysville coming in at #5 at 106lbs and took second place at the Mission Valley Invitational. 

Royal Valley Panthers have a pair of wrestlers in the rankings each coming in at #3 in the Top six of their weight class as junior, Dalton Ware and senior, Jacob Box rank third at 113lbs and 195lbs, respectively. Box is off to a strong start on the mats for the Panthers going 6-1 on the season thus far, while Ware is 0-2 to start the year. 

ACCHS Tiger senior, Hunter Ostertag remains in the rankings at 113lbs moving down one spot to #3 this week. 

Doniphan West Mustang junior, Zeb Speer ranks #5 at 160lbs this week in 3-2-1A polls after finishing second place at his weight class at the Mission Valley Invitational to open the season. 

Sabetha Bluejay junior, Seth Harrell checks in #6 at 126lbs in the latest 3-2-1A KWCA rankings going 3-1 at the Riley County Duals and also picked up a pinfall win at the Hayden Dual to open the season. 

The wrestling season continues this week with multiple duals involving area teams and weekend tournament action.
