KBCA High School Basketball Rankings Jan. 16th - 15 Area Teams

We've hit mid-season tournament time in the high school basketball season Mother Nature has once again affected games this season, too but the start of another new week the KBCA has released its latest high school basketball rankings and 15 area teams are in the polls this week. 

Class 1A-Division I and 2A are tied this week with five area teams ranked while three 3A teams remain ranked and two in 4A-Division II. 

The lady Panthers of Centralia continue to sit atop the perch at the #1 spot in Class 1A-DI as they have been their all year and are now 8-0 on the season, gearing up for the TVL Tournament as the one seed in the tourney. The Hanover lady Wildcats moved up one spot to #3 this week and are 6-1 on the season entering the TVL Tournament this week as the three seed. On the boys side of the boys Hanover, Centralia and Doniphan West all remain in the rankings this week checking in at #2, #9 and #10, respectively. The Wildcats are 5-2 on the season and gear up for the TVL Tournament as the two seed and move up one spot in the polls, while Centralia boys sit at 4-4 on the year and moved down one spot in the rankings and enter the TVL Tournament as the eight seed. Doniphan West jumped into the polls last week and remains at #10 this week coming in with a 5-3 record and are the five seed in the TVL Tournament. 

Class 2A has picked up area teams in the rankings over the course of the year and now five are teams are ranked in 2A. The Troy Trojans continue to lead the charge of those area teams in the 2A polls coming in again at #4 with a perfect 6-0 mark on the season and enter the TVL Tournament as the one seed. Joining Troy this week in the polls from the area is the Jefferson County North Charger boys who are 7-1 on the year and rank at #8 in the polls. JCN is set to compete in the Oskaloosa Invitational this week. On the girls side the lady Chargers of JCN rank the highest of area teams at #5, moving up one spot and are 8-0 on the year. The lady Chargers are off this week before hosting their own tournament next week. Washington County lady Tigers are up one spot to #8 this week and are 7-1 on the season gearing up for the TVL Tournament as the two seed, while Valley Falls girls jump back into the rankings this week coming in at #9 with a 6-2 record and will compete at the JCN Invitational next week. 

Nemaha Central Thunder girls and boys, along with Marysville boys continue to highlight the Class 3A polls for area teams. The Marysville boys who sit at 7-2 on the year remain ranked #3 this week, while the Nemaha Central boys are right behind them at #4 in the rankings and also 7-2 on the season. Nemaha Central is set to host the Thunder Classic this week and Marysville will compete in the tournament. The lady Thunder of Nemaha Central are up four spots to #6 this week and are 8-1 on the season; Nemaha is set to play Perry Lecompton on Monday and then participate in the Hiawatha Invitational next week. 

Jeff West and Holton girls each continue their great seasons and each move up one spot in the latest KBCA rankings coming in at #3 and #4, respectively with 7-1 and 8-1 records. Jeff West is set to compete in the Tonganoxie Invitational this week and Holton will be in action at the Basehor-Linwood Invitational.
