Thursday featured only two Northeast Kansas League legion baseball teams in action as Oskaloosa hosted Leavenworth for the League doubleheader. 

Oskaloosa finished the night with a 7-6 win in eight innings in game one, while game two was rained out. 

Leavenworth took the initial lead with a run in the top of the first inning as Austin Wiley notched an RBI double but Oskaloosa had an answer in the bottom of the first scoring a pair of runs. The game was tied up in the third with a run by Leavenworth but Oskaloosa plated a single run in the fifth and sixth innings to lead 4-2 entering the seventh. In the top of the seventh Leavenworth tallied four runs to take the 6-4 advantage but Oskaloosa had an answer again plating two-runs including the tying run on a RBI single by Heath Knopp sending the game into extra innings. The bottom of the eighth Oskaloosa notched the win with a run and picked up the 7-6 victory. 

Leading Oskaloosa in their 11-hit attack was Knopp who recorded three hits, while Cooper Thurston was 2-2 with a pair of RBI's. Dawson Gatzemeyer earned the win on the mound pitching the eighth inning, while Tucker Sherretts started the game and went three innings. The win improves Oskaloosa to 6-3 on the season as they won their fifth in a row. 

The loss drops Leavenworth to 1-8 on the season. Jacob Emerson and Hayes Edwards led Leavenworth with two hits each, while Preston Pfannenstiel took the loss on the mound pitching six and one-third innings after Tanner Morris started the game. 

Legion baseball season continues on Friday night in the NEKL as Sabetha will be in action at home against Wymore (NE) in non-league play.
