Monday featured only a pair of Northeast Kansas League legion baseball teams in action against each as Silver Lake hosted Doniphan County in a non-league doubleheader. Doniphan County controlled the night grabbing a 15-3 win in six innings and 16-0 win in four innings.

Silver Lake held the early lead in game up as they led 3-1 after two innings but Doniphan County did the rest of the scoring in the contest. A three-run top of the third gave Doniphan County the lead and they added to that with four runs in the fourth, another run in the fifth and finished the game with a six run sixth. Zeb Speer hosted all six innings surrendering three runs on six hits for the win, while leading the offense was a 3-3 game from Brody Winder who had three RBI's. Wil Smith added a three-run homer and Bryson Kirkland went 2-4 with two RBI. In the loss Silver Lake managed just six hits, while Justin Keller and Garret Huske each tossed three innings each.

Game two was scoreless after two innings until Doniphan County had an outburst of offense in the third and it was a big outburst to the tune of 10-runs. The offense didn't stop there for Doniphan County as they plated six more runs in the fourth and the game ended via the run-rule after four innings. Winder tossed all four innings getting the shutout and giving up just one-hit while striking out 10. Offensively Doniphan County was led by Smith who blasted two grand slams and finished with nine RBI's in the contest, while Reid Greaser had two hits with three runs scored and three RBI and Tyler Franken scored three runs. In the loss Kyle Frick and Ryan Osterhaus were on the mound for Silver Lake.

The wins move Doniphan County to 11-2 on the season and streaks their win streak to six games, while Silver Lake falls to 7-3 on the year.

NEKL legion baseball season continues on Wednesday as Silver Lake will host Sabetha for a league doubleheader (6:00pm game will be broadcasted on 103.9 KNZA), while Seneca will travel to Corning for a League twinbill also on Wednesday.
