Twelve Area Wrestlers & One Team Ranked In Latest KWCA Polls

Area wrestlers are back at it after the holiday break hitting the mats and building for the rest of the season. The Kansas Wrestling Coaches Association has released its latest set of rankings and 12 area wrestlers and one area team are ranked. 

Class 4A continues to house the only area school ranked as a team in the KWCA polls as Marysville ranks seventh in the Top 10 as a team. The Bulldogs are coming off a second place team finish at the Beatrice Invite in the first competition out of the holiday break. Three Bulldogs are in the polls individually as sophomore, Storm Slupianik ranks second at 160lbs, while sophomore, Jakob Snellings ranks fourth at 120lbs and junior, Ethan Crownover ranks fifth at 126lbs. 

The Holton Wildcats are represented by three wrestlers in Class 4A in the latest polls. Kyler Tannahill lead the way as the senior ranks fourth at 285lbs, while senior, Lawson Henry and junior, Cael Jackson rank sixth at 138lbs and 152lbs, respectively. The Wildcats lost a tough 35-31 dual with Basehor-Linwood in their first action out of the holiday break. 

Six area wrestlers find themselves in the Class 3-2-1A rankings coming from five different schools. The Sabetha Bluejays have a pair of grapplers in the latest rankings as both junior, Cauy Rokey and junior, Elliot Strahm rank fifth at 195lbs and 285lbs, respectively. The duo helped Sabetha win the Rossville Invite title in the Bluejays first action out of the break as Strahm earned an individual first place and Rokey second place. 

Riverside Cyclones were led by senior, Scott Resler who ranks as the highest area ranked wrestler coming in at second at 145lbs. Resler finished first place at the Rossville Invitational in his first action out of the holiday break. 

Doniphan West Mustang senior, Zeb Speer ranks fourth at 160lbs in latest 3-2-1A rankings and most recently took second at the Rossville Invite. While senior, Dalton Ware of Royal Valley ranks fourth at 120lbs in the latest polls. Oskaloosa senior, Jared Miller ranks sixth at 182lbs and most recently finished first at the Burlington Invitational.
