Marysville Wins and Jeff West Takes 4th at Mission Valley Wrestling Invite

Winter sports season is off and running and wrestling season as started off pretty good for some area wrestlers and their squads, also.

Four area schools had wrestlers competing at the Mission Valley Invitational and two of the top four team spots were captured by two of the area schools at the Invitational. Marysville Bulldogs took home first place as a team by 26 1/2 points on the day tallying 166 1/2 total points, beating out Topeka who finished second. The Jeff West Tigers was the other area team in the top finishing with 137 1/2 total points good for fourth place and only one point shy of third place Rossville. Sixteen total schools competed at the the Mission Valley Invitational.

There was plenty of individual success by Kanzaland area wrestlers on the day as four area wrestlers won their weight classes out of the 14 total weight classes. For Marysville it was senior, Josh Goepfert winning the 113 pound weight class. Jeff West saw two wrestlers win their weight classes as Tucker Schreniner won the 106 lbs weight class and top ranked Tiger in weight class of 220lbs in the state, Justin Scott secured a tournament win in his weight class, too. The other area winner in his weight class was Doniphan West Mustang, Tristan Speer who captured the 195lbs weight class crown.

Many other Kanzaland area wrestlers highlighted things with top four finishes on the day. (Results listed below)
