For the second straight season, Holton and Chapman met in a non-league late January matchup.

GIRLS = Holton 45, Chapman 29

Behind a 14-4 second quarter, Holton led 24-10 at halftime and never looked back in route to their fourth win of the season. The Lady Cats forced 22 turnovers and led by as many as 19 while protecting a double-digit advantage by knocking down 14 of 18 free throws on the road. Saydee Tanking had 15 points while Macey Patch added 13 and Taylor Moore chipped in 7 while Brooke Flewelling had 6. Chapman fell to 1-7 on the season.

Holton is now 4-7 overall but still looking for their first Big 7 League win as they play three games each of the next two weeks with makeup games on Monday's.

BOYS = Chapman 48, Holton 39

A game where the final score was certainly deceiving as Holton led 39-36 with 4:36 left in the game on a trey made by Blake Mulroy. Yet, over the final 4:36, Chapman ended the game with a 12-0 run to improve to 3-5 on the season. The Irish made 17 of 24 free throws including 15 makes in the second half.

Holton led 18-17 at halftime but was down 33-27 before Kale Purcel made a shot to end the third quarter and another to start the fourth frame then added two free throws to tie the score at 33 with six minutes to play. Mulroy made the only basket the rest of the night and finished with  six points while Purcel led the way with 24 on a night the Wildcats made just 2 of 20 three-pointers and fell to 6-4 on the season.

Chapman had only three players score in the game and because their entire high school coaching staff was in quarantine, they were led by the middle school assistant coach and athletic director.
