The Lady Raiders of Nemaha Valley hit the hardwood on the road against the Jeff West Tigers minus their Head Coach, Hadden Hiltgen who was celebrating the birth of his second child a baby boy. Nemaha Valley trailed a majority of the contest but managed to keep the game close and that's all they need, because when the fourth quarter came around the Raiders went on a 10-1 run after being down by five to gain the lead and the win, 38-34 over Jeff West.

Both teams traded blows back and forth throughout the ballgame but the Tigers clung to a four point lead at the half that was extended to a five point lead at the end of three periods. Ultimately it was the fourth quarter and Jeff West's struggles from the charity strip 8-25 that proved to be the difference for Nemaha Valley to key themselves to the win.

Sophomore, Jaci Swart tallied double figures for the third straight game as the Raiders have opened the second half of the season 3-0. Jaci registered 12 points to lead the way for Nemaha Valley, while Kaylee Bontrager added eight points all of which came in the first quarter of action and Kennedy McKernan chipped in seven points.

For Jeff West in the loss only four players managed to register points with the senior, Erika Essman leading the way with 15 points.

Nemaha Valley with the win moved over .500 with a 5-4 record and extended their win streak over the Tigers to six straight games. While Jeff West fell to .500 on the season, 4-4 with the loss. The Lady Raiders won't hit the court again until next Friday when they play the Lady Chargers of Horton, while the Lady Tigers will face off with the Lady Redhawks of Hiawatha on Tuesday.

Behind a stellar performance form the free throw line, nine different players scoring with 24 points by one individual and a 25-11 second quarter the Nemaha Valley Raiders propelled themselves to their ninth win of the season and remained unbeaten as the cruised past Jeff West on the road, 76-47.

Raiders only lead it by seven after one period but then after a 25-11 second quarter of action it was a 44-23 margin at the half and Nemaha Valley didn't look back from there. A big portion of the first half of action and the game was the free throw shooting of the Raiders who were 21-25 from the charity strip on the evening, while Jeff West was only 13-23 from the free throw line.

On top of all the great team performances, senior forward, Creighton Brinker registered a new season high posting 24 points on the night for the Raiders. Seniors, Trent Olberding and Drew Steinlage both joined Brinker in double figures on the evening with 16 and 12 points, respectively.

Jeff West on the night was lead by junior center, Alex Miller who tallied 17 points in the loss.

With the win Nemaha Valley has now won the last 11 meetings against Jeff West and improved to a perfect 9-0 on the season, while Jeff West fell to .500 on the season at 4-4. Next up for both of these teams is midseason tournament action next week. For Nemaha Valley they will host the 33rd annual Raiders Classic which starts Tuesday and the Raiders will face St. Mary's in the first round. Jeff West will play in the McLouth Invitational and take on the host school McLouth in the first round on Tuesday, also.
