Final KBCA Rankings Released Headed into Sub-State

With sub-state getting underway the KBCA released its final set rankings leading into the playoffs. This week the rankings featured the same 14 area teams as it did the previous week and they all remained in the same spot in their respective classification. Class 4A, the Holton lady Wildcats remained the only team ranked in 4A as they continued to win this season after a loss in the season opener. Wildcats finish the regular season 19-1 and won the Big Seven league crown yet again, while also winning their 112th straight league game to end the regular season.

In Class 3A, its the ACCHS Tigers both girls and boys and Nemaha Valley boys who continue to be ranked. For the Tiger girls the finished the regular season 18-2 and locked up the number one seed in their sub-state, while finishing second in the DVL this season; keeping them at number seven in the rankings. The Tiger boys capped off another unbeaten regular season, just like last year as they finished this year with a 20-0 record in the regular season. This time the Tigers with the number one seed in their sub-state as their sights set on not getting upset in the sub-state action like last season, as they are ranked third in the polls.

For the Nemaha Valley Raiders they capped off the season 19-1 earning a share of the Big Seven league crown for the second straight year, sharing it with Holton. The Raiders remain ranked second this week, only behind Scott City who as held the number one spot all year.

Class 2A, continues to feature only two girls squads both who are top ranked teams as the Jefferson County North Chargers remain number one this week and the Washington County Tigers check in at number two again this week. The lady Chargers finished off the regular season 18-2 and won the DVL league title yet again taking it for the final time as the league will disband after this year. Washington County after suffering their first loss of the season responded with a win and finished off the year with a tie for the TVL title with Valley Heights.

Moving down to Class 1A-Division I the Valley Heights Mustangs both girls and boys teams continue to be ranked while the Centralia boys and Hanover boys also remain ranked. For the Valley Heights girls the finished the season in a flurry with a huge win over Washington County helping them earn a share of the TVL crown and finish the regular season 16-4 and remain ranked fifth. The Valley Heights boys continue to check in at number six with a 13-7 record on the season.

Centralia finished off the regular season taking down Onaga to finish the regular season 15-5 and second in the TVL, while earning the number one seed in their sub-state with Valley Heights and Hanover. Panthers continued to be ranked this week fifth in the latest polls. Hanover capped off their regular season with a loss to B&B to finish off regular season play 13-6, but continue to be ranked at number nine.

In Class 1A-Division II the four TVL teams continue to be ranked as the B&B Falcons girls and boys are both remain in the top five and the Axtell Eagle boys and Frankfort lady Wildcats both remain ranked at number nine each. For the lady Falcons they finished off the regular season at 17-3 and third in the TVL and remain ranked fourth in the latest polls. While the B&B boys finished off the regular season with a big win over Hanover to improved to 15-5 and win the TVL title and remain ranked fifth.

The Axtell Eagles wrapped up the regular season with a 13-8 record, registering their first winning season since 1996 for the Eagles. While the lady Wildcats of Frankfort wrapped their regular season 12-7 and have been off for the past couple of weeks.
