Ryan Grabowski, a Peru State Bobcat senior baseball player from Omaha, was named to the Capital One Academic All-America College Division Baseball Second Team.  It is believed Grabowski is the first Bobcat baseball player to earn the All-America honors.

The honorees were selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) from those previously recognized as First Team Academic All-District winners.

Grabowski, a criminal justice-administration major, has been a three-year member of the Psychology-Sociology-Criminal Justice (PSCJ) club and has been on the dean's list twice.  He has assisted with the baseball camps and clinics and has worked in Bobcat game management for the past four years.  Grabowski has also helped with several of the baseball team's community service activities.  Most recently, he has been part of a community engagement course that worked with the city of Auburn to do a visionary study of what the city could do in the future regarding social and recreational opportunities, business and economics, and education.

Grabowski was named to the HAAC's All-Conference First Team.

To be eligible for Academic All-America® consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director.

Bobcat baseball head coach Wayne Albury was pleased with Grabowski's recognition.  Albury stated, “Ryan definitely had a break-out year for us as a senior.  His athletic efforts, combined with his academic and extra-curricular work, epitomize the meaning of a true student-athlete.  I am happy he received this recognition.”
