Peru State College baseball player Mike Melendez has been selected at the Heart of America Athletic Conference Player of the Week.

After having an excellent week at the plate, Mike Melendez from Hollywood, Florida capped it off by throwing the last four innings against Benedictine on Sunday and earning a win.

Melendez, a junior outfielder, went 15 for 30 during the week to bat .500 and had a slugging percentage of .933.  During Peru State's eight games in which the Bobcats went 7-1, Melendez had five doubles, one triple, and two home runs.  In addition, he was walked five times.

In the eight games, Melendez scored 13 runs and contributed 11 RBI.  He had four multi-hit games.
