Jordan Puvogel

She's only a sophomore but she's already making a big name for herself especially in the sport of cross country. Hiawatha Redhawk, Jordan Puvogel is quickly becoming one of the top cross country runners in the Kanzaland area and the state.

Jordan has competed in three events thus far into the 2012 season and ran her way to three meet titles. She opened up the season with a win at Marysville with a time of 16:15.91, beating out the second place finisher by more than 30 seconds. Puvogel didn't stop there as she went to the Holton Invitational and ran a time of 17:21.00 good enough for another first place finish.

Most recently she yet again competed against many other top runners from the area in the Nemaha Valley Invitational and paced her way to a time of 15:35.91 and first place for the third time this season.

Jordan, only a sophomore started to make a name for herself last season as a freshman when she made state in Class 4A and finished with a time of 15:49.25, good for sixth place at state. She also, competed in the Down Under Games in Australia this past summer with runners from all around the United States. Jordan finished sixth overall in the girls competition and fourth in her age group (16 & under) with a time of 21:30 in a 5K race.

Puvogel has her sights set on first place in every competition she competes in and of course on getting to state and winning it. She continues her cross country season with her Redhawk teammates, on Thursday as they compete at the Horton Invitational.
