Leighton Boldridge
|
What a special moment for Atchison athletics—one that turned into a family milestone as well.
Leighton Boldridge, who made the switch from baseball to track, is already making a historic impact. In just his second meet—and only the fifth triple jump of his career—Leighton soared to a mark of 46 feet, 2.5 inches, shattering a 39-year-old school record.
That record had long been held by his father, Greg Boldridge, who set the previous mark of 44 feet, 10.5 inches. The passing of the torch couldn’t have been more meaningful, creating a memorable father-son moment that will be talked about for years in Atchison.
Leighton’s performance doesn’t just stand out locally—it’s making noise across the state. His jump currently ranks No. 3 in 4A and No. 8 across all classifications.
A new sport, a record-breaking leap, and a family legacy rewritten.
