Will Elias

Will Elias of Jefferson County North is this week’s Athlete of the Week after delivering an outstanding performance at the Regional Track & Field Meet hosted by JCN last week.

Elias played a major role in helping the Chargers capture their third consecutive regional championship while continuing a dominant season that also included a NEKL team title.

Individually, Elias claimed regional titles in the long jump and 300-meter hurdles, while also contributing to top finishes in both the 4x400-meter and 4x800-meter relay teams.

His season has been filled with impressive performances. Elias has posted a time of 40.21 seconds in the 300 hurdles twice this season, missing the school record by just one-hundredth of a second. He also ran a low 2:04 split on the opening leg of the 4x800 relay, a team that is also chasing a school-record time.

At regionals, Elias helped secure a relay victory with a blazing 50.2-second anchor split in the 4x400 relay.

Jefferson County North head coach Spencer Wilson praised both Elias’ talent and leadership.

"Will is a very talented athlete and supportive teammate.  He is a great young man who works hard to get the most out of himself, knowing that the better he is, the more it will help the team."

With state competition ahead, Elias and the Chargers will look to build on what has already been a remarkable season.
