Peek Sets 400m Record at State Meet
Brayden Peek

Holton's Brayden Peek capped off his high school career at the State Track Meet a couple of weeks ago in Wichita.

Not only did Brayden take home a pair of 4A gold medals, but he set the meet record in the 400m dash event.

His 400m dash time was clocked in at 47.70 with the previous mark set at 47.89. His other gold medal was in the 800m run as he clocked in with a time of 1:54.65 seconds.

Brayden also had a successful basketball season earning second team honors in the Big East.

Brayden is set to continue his athletic and academic career as a decathlete at Washburn University next fall.

Track coach Brooks Barta on Brayden: "Brayden is probably the best natural track athlete I have ever worked with. However, I do not think he would have achieved a state record had he not dedicated himself to the weight room, a speed development program and practicing at a very high level. His combination of talent, desire, work ethic and competitiveness earned him a state class 4A record. He did it the right way in his approach to the classroom and training. He is very deserving of his honors."
