Bump, Set, Spike B&B Falcon, Laura Sudbeck Continues to Excel
Laura Sudbeck

Baileyville might be a small town but if you pay attention high school sports in the state of Kansas you are well aware of the success the B&B Falcons have had in all sports. That includes the sport of volleyball as they are the defending Class 1A-Division II state champions, finishing last year with a 40-6 record and look on their way to another run in state as they are 25-2 thus far this season.

The Falcons are an all around team, but one player stands out when you see the Falcons play and look at the stats and that's, junior outside hitter, Laura Sudbeck. Laura has been a factor on the volleyball court ever since she stepped on the court as a freshman, making All-State second team her freshman year and first team All-State last year as a sophomore. All while B&B won the state Class 1A-Division II title last year and finished third at state her freshman year.

This season it looks like another year that Sudbeck will garner All-State honors as she leads the Falcons in kills (259), serving percentage (99%) and pass efficiency (2.26). The stats don't stop there as Laura is second on the team in serve aces (22) and digs (232), while ranking third on the team in blocks (29). Laura has become a jack of all-trades leader for the Falcons on their way to a current 25-2 record this season and current number ranking in the latest KVA rankings.

Sudbeck as helped paced the way for the Falcons to capture to regular season tournament crowns (Valley Falls Invite and Nemaha Valley Invite, while also finishing second in another (Hiawatha Invitational).

B&B has a few remaining matches this season before the Twin Valley League tournament and then sub-state. The Falcons behind Sudbeck and last year's Class 1A-Division II Coach of the Year, Jessica Koch looked primed to make another run at a state title and defend their championship from last year.
