Trey Tanking & Garett Beecher

Back to the State tournament for the first time since 2011, but the Holton Wildcat boys aren’t foreign to winning as Holton athletics have enjoyed plenty of success through the years and this year the Wildcats are doing much of the same.

With wins over Jeff West and Royal Valley in Class 4A-DII sub-state at Meriden the Wildcats earned the right to compete at the 4A-DII State tournament and the junior duo of Trey Tanking and Garett Beecher have spear headed the success of the Wildcats throughout the year.

In the sub-state semifinals the Wildcats tamed the Jeff West Tigers with a 64-44 win and Beecher and Tanking posted 22 and 21 points, respectively accounting for 67% of the teams points on the night. The duo followed that performance up helping lead their team to the sub-state title with a 67-41 win over Royal Valley. Tanking led the team that night with 19 points, while Beecher added 15 points.

Throughout the season both Trey and Garett have put on the scoring shows as Trey has scored in double figures 17 of the teams 22 games and Garett in 20 of the 22 games this season. On the year Tanking has posted 15 ppg, 4 rpg, 4 apg and 3 spg while shooting around 36% from three-point land and Beecher leads the team in scoring with 18 ppg, 3.5 rpg, 2 apg and 2 spg while shooting around 42% from three-point land.

Wildcats are riding a seven-game winning streak headed into the State tournament and are 17-5 on the season. Holton looks to add another trophy to the display cases and the duo of Tanking and Beecher will be at the front helping lead the Wildcats as the hit the court for action at the 4A-DII State tournament.
