The Sabetha lady Bluejays tennis team spread their wings early this season bringing home a first place finish in the first competition of the season winning the Wamego Invitational.

Bluejays used a pair of first place doubles finishes and a second and third place single finishes to earn first place as a team on the day. Helping lead the way was the senior tandem of Jordyn Wells and Alexa Menold who joined forces this year and went 4-0 to start the season winning the doubles number one competition at the Wamego Invite.

Wells and Menold dispatch the competition with 6-1 wins over the Atchison and Wabaunsee teams, while winning 6-2 over Topeka High and Wamego.

The tandem of Wells and Menold join forces this year for doubles competition after Wells teamed with another fellow Bluejay last year in doubles competition and Menold competed as a singles competitor.

Wells and Menold the “Girl’s Athletes of the Week” brought you by Highland CC, along with their fellow lady Bluejay teammates look to continue their hot start to the season later this week at the Hayden Invitational in Topeka on Thursday.
