Hanover Wildcat, Andrew Bruna Helps Lead Wildcats to Strong Season
Andrew Bruna

For the first time since 2009 the Hanover Wildcats made a trip to Newton to compete in a State Championship game. Led by a strong senior class the Wildcats put together a strong 12-1 season, but came up short of the State title falling to Central Plains in the 8-Man Division I State title game.

One key senior that helped orchestra a great season on the gridiron for the Wildcats was quarterback, Andrew Bruna who helped Hanover be an offensive juggernaut this season scoring 58 points per game (754 total points) and averaging 370.4 total yards per game. Andrew at the quarterback spot was one of the leaders on the field throughout the season, as he was 90-137 for 1,899 yards with a 65.7% completion percentage and tossed 36 touchdowns to only six interceptions. His impact was also felt in the running game rushing for 812 yards on 134 carries for a 6.1 yard per carry average and found the endzone 25 times.

Throughout the year as the Wildcats cruised past opponents Bruna threw for 100 or more yards in all but two games, had four games with four touchdown passes and scored a touchdown rushing or passing in each game. During the State Championship Bruna did his best with his teammates to try and comeback against Central Plains but ultimately just falling short, as he was 19-34 for 231 yards with three touchdowns and three interceptions, while rushing for 87 yards on 25 carries with a touchdown.

Bruna and his fellow seniors helped the Wildcats put together their best season since 2009 finishing 12-1 and 8-Man Division I State Runner-ups behind a strong season.
